Hand Holding Fire | Hand-Carved Limestone Sculpture 

Hand Holding Fire is a hand-carved limestone sculpture depicting a human hand carefully holding a flame. The piece explores the contrast between the solid weight of stone and the delicate, almost fleeting quality of fire.

The sculpture was gradually carved and refined from the original block, with careful attention given to the anatomy of the hand, the folds and contours of the fingers, and the flame held within them. The progression of the work shows the figure emerging from the stone as the form and details are developed.
