Gargoyle #2 | Hand-Carved Limestone Sculpture 

Gargoyle #2 is a hand-carved limestone gargoyle featuring a winged, dragon-like creature with an expressive face and open mouth. The sculpture was developed directly from the stone, with the wings, face, paws, and smaller details gradually emerging through the carving process.

The finished piece has a strong, traditional gargoyle character while retaining the roughness and visible texture of hand-carved stone. The patina visible in the final photograph is not part of the original finish. The sculpture survived a church fire while being stored, and the effects of the fire left a unique surface patina on the marble.
